Emmanuel Blay is a Ghanaian-Italian film director based in London.
His work explores stories rooted in human experience, often provoking reflection and emotional depth. He began his career as a camera operator at a local TV station in northern Italy before moving to Milan to study a Bachelor’s in Media Design and Multimedia Arts. There, he produced his self-funded thesis documentary, Red Means Go, about disability in developing countries, which was shot in Ghana and won Best Sound.
During his time in Milan, Emmanuel worked as a freelance filmmaker, producing commercial and editorial content for brands such as Woolrich, Red Bull, Lavazza, Koché, Puma, AC Milan, etc and also and collaborator for Sky Italia.
Driven by his passion for storytelling and a desire to further develop his craft, he moved to London, a central hub for filmmaking and a gateway to European cinema, to pursue a Master’s degree in Filmmaking. He is now fully committed to creating films that reflect human-rooted stories and resonate with audiences on both personal and social levels.
As a director, Emmanuel is inspired by distinctive voices in filmmaking that bring untold human experiences to the screen.
